As an OpenShift Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating containerised platforms that enable scalable, resilient, and secure solutions. Working on complex, high-impact programmes, you will help drive innovation through cloud-native technologies and automation. You'll take ownership of platform engineering activities, contribute creative solutions to technical challenges, and collaborate within a supportive environment that enables continuous growth and meaningful impact. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be based on a site near Gloucester five days a week.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage OpenShift-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across containerised environments.
- Take ownership of platform reliability, leveraging automation and infrastructure‑as‑code to deliver consistent and efficient deployments aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps and development teams to support CI/CD integration and evolving application needs.
- Contribute innovative approaches to platform engineering, enhance automation practices, and ensure robust disaster recovery and continuity capabilities.
- Design & Manage OpenShift clusters and container platforms.
- Automate & Streamline infrastructure using Ansible, OpenStack, and scripting.
- Orchestrate & Maintain container workloads using Kubernetes.
- Monitor & Optimise platform performance, capacity, and resilience.
- Support & Integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
- Implement & Maintain disaster recovery and backup solutions.
- Collaborate & Align with cross‑functional engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in container platform engineering with hands‑on expertise in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation.
- Proven experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of containerised infrastructure and microservices.
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, OpenStack, Terraform).
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of infrastructure resilience, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Familiarity with secure or regulated environments is advantageous.
