This is an exciting opportunity to join the Customer Strategy team within the Group Customer & Communications Function. As a consultant working in Team Effectiveness, you’ll be responsible for coordinating operational elements enabling and supporting our analytics teams, with particular focus on the embedding of data governance and control activities. We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best. This is a 12 month secondment opportunity.

What you’ll be doing:

You will have ownership of enhancing Critical Data Management activities, identifying and recording the high-impact data that underpins our business processes. You’ll use your technical experience and natural curiosity to understand, define and document source data across varying business scopes within Customer Strategy, engaging and collaborating with specialists within the team and broader Nationwide functions where necessary. Day-to-day activities will include planning and agreeing regular sprints of activity, exploring and validating understanding of data sources, capturing and seeking approval for definitions, maintaining records, progressing activity through governance and communicating progress to stakeholders. Team Effectiveness plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of Customer Strategy and you will also help to form, agree and deliver initiatives that continue to improve our operational processes and ways of working.

About you:

You’ll be someone with a broad understanding of data, balanced with problem-solving and interpersonal skills, who can work collaboratively with teams of analysis professionals. You’ll bring:

  • Demonstrable experience in a related data field, with understanding of data coding and structures
  • A logical and curious mindset, with strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy
  • Technical capability for exploring and understanding data, comfortable in using tools such as Teradata, SAS, Databricks and Power BI
  • Familiarity with Society approach to controls, including capturing evidence of effective control operation
  • Confidence in your communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders, gathering and consolidating complex information into clear documentation
  • Proactive and enthusiastic attitude, with the ability to plan, track and deliver work to deadlines
