We are looking for a talented data insights specialist with a strong background in internal audit to join our dynamic internal audit team at a key point in our journey to becoming a data driven function. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an award-winning team, in the largest UK building society with the unique benefit of being a Mutual.

As a member of our team, you will leverage your auditing expertise and data science skills to provide assurance working on different audits throughout the year. Your knowledge and expertise will help drive continuous improvements across the team, upskilling colleagues with data analytics capabilities and developing innovative tools and practices to achieve our strategic goals.

What you’ll be doing

As an Internal Audit Data Insights Manager, you will conduct audit testing as part of an audit team, assessing the effectiveness of internal controls through a dedicated data insights lens. Using the latest generative AI techniques to support coding and testing, you will leverage data insights to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.

Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will help develop innovative, data-led audit methodologies and solutions that continue to enhance the department’s data science capability. You will also support the delivery of the Internal Audit strategy by sharing your technical expertise, developing colleagues’ data analytics skills, and carrying out technical reviews of data insights work.

You will drive innovation by creating repeatable analytics solutions that can be applied across audits and developing self-service functionality that enables audit teams to access and use data more effectively. Keeping up to date with industry developments and best practice, you will help continuously improve and strengthen data-led audit processes.

About you

  • Proven significant experience as an auditor, preferably within the financial services sector
  • Have extensive experience of Python and the ability to utilise it in a commercial sense and apply to audit scenarios
  • Have an advanced understanding and experience of data bricks alongside other analytical tools and relational query languages such as SAS, SQL, etc.
  • An advanced understanding of GitHub and the application of GitHub Copilot to coding
  • A curious mind with a keen interest in innovation and continuous improvement. Previous experience of AI Innovation and application to data insights
  • The ability to think laterally to solve problems
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant certifications are a plus
