Governance Manager
We’re up to some exciting things in Architecture Governance within CTO and our goal is to create a secure environment for the society through modern governance practices. It’s our mission to enhance governance frameworks, mitigate risks and foster a culture of transparency and collaboration. To help us achieve this, our team is growing and we’re seeking a Governance Manager to champion, direct and drive architecture governance for the Nationwide. It’s a key role as you drive technology alignment to the IT / Business Strategy and enterprise policies, standards, patterns and roadmaps. Are you up for the challenge?
As a Governance Manager within the Chief Technology Office (CTO), you’ll play a key role in shaping how technology decisions are governed across the Society, ensuring they are aligned to strategy, well‑controlled and deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes. You’ll operate at the centre of Architecture Governance, working with senior stakeholders to guide solutions from early concept through to delivery, managing risk, driving informed decision‑making through data and enabling effective, well‑shaped change through core governance processes and forums. By continually improving governance practices and supporting emerging areas, you’ll help ensure Nationwide delivers secure, resilient and customer‑focused technology solutions—ultimately supporting better customer experiences and building trust through safe, reliable services.
What you’ll be doing
You will be ensuring technology decisions and designs are governed from inception to implementation, providing a robust framework for consistency and quality. Also, you'll be operating architecture processes and controls that support modern digital delivery methodologies, effectively managing governance‑related risks within the CTO risk profile.
As part of the role, you will be driving data decisions that support the definition and analysis of metrics to demonstrate achievements and influence future decisions, ensuring deviations are highlighted to appropriate governance forums. In addition, you'll be capturing and reporting on the demand for architectural resources, ensuring the overall architectural delivery capability is managed effectively. You will also be managing the Architecture front door process to support Nationwide project shaping activities, ensuring projects are well‑defined and aligned with strategic goals. A key part of the role will be supporting the Group Technical Design Authority, Local Design Authorities and Enterprise Architecture Board, ensuring technology decisions align with business needs and Society strategy. Last but not least, you will be providing thought leadership on technology governance, continuously improving processes to drive better, more informed decision‑making.
