We forge our own path at Nationwide.
As a mutual, we’re owned by our members - those customers who bank, save or have a mortgage with us. We challenge the financial sector status quo. We don’t see customers as the engine of our own profit. We share our profits with them and put their needs first. Always there when they need us. Supporting them and their lives.
If you’re inspired by fairer finances, passionate about making a meaningful impact, and truly care about our customers, you’re one of us.
At Nationwide, you are challenged to grow and rewarded for doing so. Valued. Recognised. Inspired to be your best. As a community we want our working lives to count. As a team, we celebrate what we achieve. As a standard‑setter, we work for the good of customers, communities, and broader society.
We are purpose‑driven. Uncompromisingly customer. Unstoppably Nationwide.

What you'll be doing on the Data & Analytics Industrial Placement - Risk
Our Data & Analytics Industrial Placement is a 12-month programme designed to combine practical experience, professional development and real workplace learning. This isn't a placement spent watching from the sidelines. From day one, you'll contribute to meaningful work while receiving the support needed to learn and grow.
Your placement begins with induction, development support and structured learning designed to help you settle in, build confidence and understand the role you'll be performing. Alongside this, you'll join a 10-month collaborative project with other Industrial Placement students from across Nationwide. Throughout the placement, you'll gain hands‑on experience while following a personalised learning pathway tailored to your role. Workshops, simulations and on‑the‑job learning will help you continue developing your skills and confidence.
The placement offers an opportunity to experience how data, analytics and AI support decision‑making across a major financial services organisation. Rather than specialising immediately in one area, you'll gain broad experience and develop a better understanding of where your interests and strengths lie.
No two days are the same. Activities could include analysing data, identifying trends, supporting risk assessments, reviewing controls, improving business processes and helping colleagues make evidence‑based decisions.
Working across teams, you'll help transform information into insight, supporting improvements that create meaningful value for customers, colleagues and the wider organisation.
Exposure to analytics, AI and risk management will help build both technical and professional capability. Along the way, you'll develop transferable skills in communication, stakeholder engagement, problem solving, analytical thinking and business improvement.
There will also be opportunities to explore emerging technologies and AI‑enabled approaches while contributing to projects that improve how Nationwide manages risk and makes decisions.
Successful completion of the placement may help shape future career choices and could provide a route into one of our Skills Development Programmes after university.
