At Derian House, we help babies, children and young people with life‑limiting conditions make the most of every precious moment. We also stand alongside their families, offering comfort, support, and hope. Following the retirement of our current Clinical Director, who has played an integral part in developing our services, we are now looking to replace this role with someone who’s excited to be part of the next stage of the Derian House journey, focusing on our Care Services. The new role will work closely with our Chief Nurse and new Director of Children and Family Services, shaping the growth of our Care Services for our current and future babies, children and young adults.
Responsibilities:
- Grow and expand care services so we can reach even more babies, children and young people.
- Lead and inspire a passionate, multi‑skilled team offering in‑house care and community care services.
- Maintain robust care pathways and clinical governance structures that ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Drive continuous improvement and champion a culture of excellence in clinical practice.
You will be an experienced and visionary leader, with a proven track record in children’s clinical care, ideally gained in a hospice or palliative care environment. Creative, compassionate, and ambitious, you’ll bring the skills to inspire others and the drive to grow to continue to build on the fantastic services we already offer today.

Hours: 37.5 or 30 hours per week, usually working Monday to Friday but with some flexibility to meet service needs.
Location: Derian House Children’s Hospice, Chancery Road, Chorley, PR7 1DH.
Selection and Assessment Process: This will be a 2 stage process; initial preliminary 20 minute discussion, held virtually, (MS Teams) and then for those who we decide to progress there will be an onsite face to face assessment and interview. We anticipate the processes will take place during January 2026.
Benefits: We offer 35 days holidays per year, including bank holidays and increasing with length of service, a contributory pension scheme, retail discounts via a benefits platform, free parking and subsidised meals in our diner.
