Key Responsibilities

  • Work confidently with silk and other delicate fabrics, adjusting machinery settings to suit different fabric properties (e.g., silk and cashmere).
  • Follow detailed work instructions, order sheets, and specifications relating to fabric, colour, size, and trims.
  • Contribute to the full garment production process, from sampling new seasonal pieces through to preparing finished garments for retail.
  • Carry out garment alterations and personalisation, including embroidery and bespoke customer requests (training on multi-needle embroidery machines and associated software will be provided).
  • Measure and check garments throughout production to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with internal standards.
  • Support the development of new techniques to improve garment construction processes.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience operating industrial sewing machines and overlockers within a professional garment manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with silk and other fine fabrics, with strong knowledge of fabric handling and garment construction techniques.
  • Keen eye for detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in every garment produced.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills to manage workload effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Interest in learning and using new technologies in garment production.

What We Offer

  • A unique opportunity to work in a specialist silk studio creating luxury garments.
  • Training in garment personalisation and embroidery.
  • A welcoming and energetic team environment where your contribution is valued.
  • Set working hours: Monday to Thursday 8am–5pm, Friday 8am–2pm for a great work-life balance.
  • Generous pension scheme, 70% staff discount, and access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
