About the Employer
Running since 1957, we are an established family owned and run engineering business specialising in the manufacture of high quality machinery for the horticulture, agriculture and amenity sectors. Our products are used by a wide variety of well known businesses, including Kubota UK and Campey Turfcare, and can be found in prominent locations including premiership football clubs, royal estates, and sports grounds across the UK, as well as grass roots level facilities. We also manufacture our own established brands, including D. W. Tomlin, Longdog ATV, Pelican Planter, and the Suffolk Mower range. Apprentices will have the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled, time-served engineers and many have built long careers with us. We have successfully trained several apprentices through this college in the past and for the right candidate, this apprenticeship offers an excellent chance of long term employment with us.
What You'll Do
Every day will be hands on experience where you will undertake a variety of tasks, from basic manufacturing, to maintenance and repair of machines and equipment.
- Interpret drawings, patterns, templates and specifications to mark out, produce and assemble complex fabricated products to meet the required specification and quality requirements.
- Building machines from start to finish.
- Learn MIG welding.
- Operate appropriate tools and equipment to join metal parts using a range of mechanical fasteners and fixing techniques.
- Carry out quality checks on component parts and completed assemblies.
- Monitor resources and activities throughout the fabrication of products or components, identifying areas for improving the production process where possible.
Training Outcome
For the right candidate, this apprenticeship offers an excellent chance of long term employment with us, where you can work up from being an apprentice to an experienced welder/fabricator.
