Job overview

As one of our fire safety expert, you will provide specialist advice, lead fire risk assessments and audits, develop policies and strategies, and ensure compliance across Trust/DSFS premises. You will manage improvement programmes, contractors, evacuation drills and staff training, while working closely with enforcement bodies and fire services. The role includes regular site inspections, occasional work in challenging environments and manual handling of fire equipment weighing up to 18 kg.

Provide expert advice to the Head of Health and Safety on fire safety and Health & Safety management and compliance.

Provide expert Fire & Health and Safety guidance to all “Trust / DSFS “working groups and committees as required.

Support Trust/DSFS development and improvement of fire safety policies and procedures, by proactively managing the implementation of the changes across all other Trust and DSFS departments as required through to confirmation of completion.

Process manage and undertake the completion of Fire Risk Assessments and Audits in line with fire safety guidance and legislation to ensure that currently installed firefighting appliances, signage and evacuation notification meet as a minimum the current fire safety requirement. Completion of the FRA’s will require you to use access equipment to enter and inspect confined roof, culvert and basement spaces and be exposed to dusty, dirty and elevated / reduced temperature environments where specialist protective clothing may will be required to be worn for extended periods.
