The Patient Records department has a large team supporting the hospital in the delivery and storage of case notes within the hospital settings.

As part of the team you will be responsible for delivering a timely and efficient service to all clients utilising the service both internal and external to the hospital.

  • Retrieve case notes from the Patient Records Library and around the Hospital
  • Responsible for data input onto the Patient Administration System whilst adhering to patient confidentiality and Information Governance policy
  • File patient case notes in terminal digit order in the Library
  • Responsible for the movement of case notes between various storage areas in order to comply with the retention/destruction policy
  • Responsible for the maintenance of and the updating of the case note tracking system

We have 6 Bank vacancies. The working hours are between 8.30 - 20.00 Monday-Friday.

Main duties of the job:

  • Filing and retrieving case notes from the patient records library in a timely manner
  • Supporting the Emergency Admissions team by undertaking their ward runs to deliver case notes to the wards around the hospital
  • Supporting the Clinic Preparation team by collecting and delivering case notes from around the hospital site ready for clinic appointments
  • Completing daily runs to the under croft to move case notes for storage

Person specification:

  • Qualifications: GCSE- English, Maths or equivalent experience; E.C.D.L. or equivalent
  • Experience: Previous clerical experience or satisfactory work placements
  • Skills and Knowledge: Sound keyboard/VDU skills; Knowledge of Patient Administration system; Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines; Previous Medical Records experience; Ability to prioritise heavy/conflicting workloads; Effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work without constant supervision
