DSFS are looking to recruit the right person into the position of Chef who will join our team on a part time basis, working within Cafe at the Royal, located at the main entrance at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with food offering shifts 4 days per week, Monday to Thursday, with working hours to start at 10am and finish at 6pm. Our team is the focal point for patients, visitors and staff in the Hospital. We are looking for someone who is an experienced Chef and will thrive in this role, creating the right environment for our staff and visitors alike.
Key Benefits of the Role:
- Our Pension is a NEST pension. Upon joining you can choose whether to pay 5% or 8% and DSFS will match whichever you choose.
- If applicable to your role and contract we will pay enhancements of 40% for any hours worked after 8pm and before 6am on Monday to Friday and for hours worked on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Main duties of the job:
- Reporting to the Head Chef, preparing high-quality meals, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our customers.
- Create and develop menus using seasonal ingredients, ensuring dishes are cost effective and nutritious.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to issue instructions in a calm manner.
- Ability to keep calm under pressure.
- You will be pivotal in ensuring full compliance where all Food Safety Guidelines are being adhered to.

Qualifications & Training:
- Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Good Knowledge of Food Safety/Kitchen Hygiene and HACCP.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues and guidance within an NHS environment.
- Menu planning and allergen awareness.
Experience:
- Experience in a similar role or environment.
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Able to make decisions around menus and ingredients.
- Experience within a commercial environment or similar such as retail or catering operation.
Skills and knowledge:
- Able to manage, motivate and lead a team.
- A good communicator, able to converse easily and at all levels.
