Are you looking for a fulfilling career in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside? Crich Medical Practice is excited to announce we are recruiting a salaried GP to join our friendly and stable team. Due to our growing list and increasing demand, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Salaried GP for 4-6 sessions per week. This is a 12 month fixed-term contract, with the potential to become permanent.

Main duties of the job

As a Salaried GP, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to our patients. Your role will involve a wide range of clinical and non-clinical responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

About us

Located on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales, our practice serves a semi-rural population of around 8000 people across three sites, including a purpose-built surgery in Crich and two smaller branches (South Wingfield and Holloway) with dispensaries. As a training practice, we are committed to supporting the professional development of our team members. Our routine surgeries consist of 13 patients, ensuring a manageable workload. We have embraced technology with our paper light SystmOne practice, integrated Ardens Templates, and the use of Accurx. We collaborate closely with ARCH PCN, providing access to clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and First Contact Physio.

Job responsibilities

Below are the key aspects of the job description:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary medical care to patients, including consultations, examinations, and diagnosis.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with national and local guidelines.
  • Manage acute and chronic medical conditions, including long-term care plans.
  • Conduct home visits and telephone consultations as necessary.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and investigations.
  • Refer patients to specialists and other healthcare professionals when required.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  • Process medical reports, referrals, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate and follow up on patient appointments and referrals.

Communication and Patient Care:

  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, ensuring they understand their medical conditions, treatment plans, and risks.
  • Provide health promotion and education to patients, encouraging healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Keep up to date with current medical research and evidence-based practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Attend and actively participate in practice meetings and educational activities.

Professional Development and Compliance:

  • Comply with relevant professional standards, codes of conduct, and legal requirements.
  • Engage in regular continuing professional development (CPD) activities.
  • Participate in appraisal and revalidation processes.
  • Mentor and support junior clinical staff, including trainee GPs.

Requirements:

  • Medical degree and full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or equivalent.
  • Experience working as a GP in primary care settings.
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to providing patient-centred care and continuous improvement.
