We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team for 3 sessions per week (1 session on Thursday and 2 sessions on Friday). This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established practice serving approximately 9,700 patients in the market town of Heanor, Derbyshire. We offer a competitive salary of £11,500 to £12,170 per session per annum depending on experience, and a modern and forward-thinking approach to primary care. The successful candidate will become part of a welcoming practice with five GP partners and two current salaried GPs. Interviews may be offered before the advertised closing date, and we reserve the right to close this vacancy early should sufficient applications be received. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary medical services to our practice population. The role will include:

  • Undertaking routine GP consultations
  • Managing acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Providing preventative healthcare and health promotion
  • Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective patient care

You will be supported by our experienced clinical and administrative teams and will use SystmOne and Rapid Health to help deliver efficient and accessible care to patients. The postholder will contribute to maintaining high clinical standards, participate in practice meetings and clinical governance activities as appropriate, and support the practice in delivering contractual and quality requirements.

Kelvingrove Medical Centre is a well-established GP practice located in Heanor, Derbyshire, caring for approximately 9,700 patients. Our team consists of 5 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, experienced nursing colleagues, and a paramedic, alongside our dedicated reception and administrative teams who work together to deliver high-quality care in a supportive and friendly environment. Job responsibilities

The post-holder will:

  • Provide routine and urgent GP consultations for patients within the practice
  • Assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Develop and implement appropriate treatment and management plans
  • Undertake duty doctor responsibilities as part of the clinical rota
  • Review, triage and manage patient requests submitted through the practice's Rapid Health online access system
  • Assess the urgency and clinical need of patient contacts, ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate service or clinician
  • Manage same-day demand, urgent clinical queries and requests for advice from patients, colleagues and external healthcare professionals
  • Undertake telephone and face-to-face consultations as clinically appropriate
  • Make referrals to secondary care, community services and other healthcare providers where appropriate
  • Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with local and national guidance
  • Undertake medication reviews and support medicines optimisation
  • Review and action clinical correspondence, pathology results and other incoming clinical information in a timely manner
  • Complete clinical administration arising from consultations, including referrals, prescriptions, fit notes and medical reports
  • Promote health education, disease prevention and self-care
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical records using SystmOne
  • Contribute to the management of long-term conditions and preventative healthcare programmes
  • Participate in safeguarding processes and act in accordance with practice policies and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with GP colleagues, nursing staff, our paramedic and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity and quality of patient care
  • Contribute to the achievement of QOF, Enhanced Services and other contractual requirements through the delivery of high-quality clinical care and appropriate clinical coding
  • Participate in practice meetings, clinical governance activities and quality improvement initiatives as required
  • Maintain compliance with GMC guidance and professional standards
  • Participate in annual appraisal, revalidation and continuing professional development activities

Person Specification

Experience

  • Experience of working in General Practice
  • Experience of undertaking clinical triage and assessing patient need
  • Experience of maintaining accurate clinical records and managing clinical administration
  • Understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding and quality improvement processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using SystmOne
  • Experience using Rapid Health or other digital triage and online consultation platforms
  • Experience of duty doctor/on-call responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified General Practitioner
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the NHS England Performers List
  • Evidence of ongoing appraisal and revalidation
  • Medical indemnity appropriate for general practice work
