Whether it’s responding to emergencies, preventing incidents before they happen, or supporting our frontline teams behind the scenes, every role here makes a real difference. We’re proud to be one of the country’s top‑performing fire and rescue services, recently rated ‘Good’ in 9 out of 11 areas by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS). • Provide assistance to deliver an efficient and effective strategic procurement service.
  • Provide a partnering approach to guidance and advice to employees of DFRS on Procurement and Financial Regulations and the best procurement route to follow (e.g., frameworks, regional contracts or local procurement).
  • Proactively support the purpose and values of the Service; provide leadership and direction in own area of responsibility and by sharing best practice across the Procurement function.
  • Undertake spend analysis of DFRS historical spend to inform sourcing decisions and identify opportunities for savings.
  • Make contributions to innovation and improving ways of working, including exploring collaborative procurement and sourcing opportunities, by questioning, researching and actively developing ideas.
  • Advise on the best procurement routes, considering environmental and sustainability factors.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Design and deliver compliant commercial solutions to deliver requirements effectively, including relevant experience of end‑to‑end procurement processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including written and oral communication in a range of organisational situations.
  • Strong prioritisation and organisational skills, with ability to pay attention to detail whilst working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Effective relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as in collaboration with others.
  • Resilience in changing situations, problem solving and innovation.
