Role
Responsible for providing household and commercial refuse collection service throughout Bolsover District Council areas. Work in the Council’s Streetscene Team, handling routine collection rounds, removal of household, industrial, and commercial refuse, and occasional duties in grounds maintenance, street cleansing, and environmental improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect domestic household and commercial waste from urban and rural locations.
- Operate and maintain light commercial vehicles, conduct routine daily checks, and report defaults.
- Adhere to fixed work schedules, meet tight deadlines, and sustain high physical output.
- Follow Health and Safety systems, especially when working on or adjacent to highways.
- Support grounds maintenance and street cleansing functions during the winter green bin suspension period.
Requirements
- Experience in collecting domestic household and commercial waste from urban and rural locations.
- Understanding of Health and Safety systems.
- Experience with light commercial vehicles and routine vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to work to fixed schedules, meet deadlines, and maintain high physical output.
- Valid Full Driving LGV License (Category C or C+E).
- Previous experience in Refuse Collection or Street Cleansing is advantageous.
Employment Details
Grade 5 / £28,418 – £30,955 per annum. Permanent contract. 37 hours per week (Tuesday – Friday). Location: Bolsover District Council, Riverside Depot, Mansfield Road, Doe Lea, S44 5NY.
