Derbyshire Constabulary are looking for Transferee Detective Sergeants to join our Criminal Exploitation Team. The Criminal Exploitation Unit leads high impact investigations into County Lines, Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, protecting vulnerable children and adults most at risk of criminal exploitation.

You will supervise and manage a hybrid team of friendly and highly driven Police Constables, Detective Constables and Detective Staff Investigators undertaking both reactive and proactive, intelligence-led investigations, operations, and enforcements. You will undertake a variety of professional development activities including intelligence development, serious organised crime, proactive policing, covert policing, cross border policing, safeguarding, exploitative criminality and partnership working.

Responsibilities:
  • You will lead the initial response to serious and complex crime investigations and ensure the team performs to a high standard and investigations are thorough.
  • You will lead pre-planned and spontaneous enforcements.
  • You will ensure that officers/staff conduct investigations in a timely manner.
  • You will ensure victims are kept updated in line with their wishes and The Victim’s Code.

The role is predominantly Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, however a degree of flexibility is required with the need for extended or adjusted shifts at short notice to meet operational demands.

Qualifications & Eligibility:
  • Applicants must gain PIP2 accreditation, ensuring successful completion of the Initial Crime Investigators Development Programme (ICIDP).
  • Must be a member of a Home Office force or Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) or Police Scotland.
  • Have a full manual driving licence.
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
  • Be confirmed in rank.

The deadline for applications is on Friday 22 May 2026 by 23:55pm. For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro‑rata basis, based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
