Join Derbyshire Volunteer Police Cadets to learn new skills, meet new friends and make a difference in your community. As a Volunteer Police Cadet you’ll take part in weekly cadet meetings, social action projects and local initiatives aimed at raising the profile of young people in the county whilst giving you a real insight into policing.

We offer a fantastic opportunity for like-minded young people to:

  • Take part in sporting activities

As part of the process you will be expected to attend an assessment centre for Senior Cadets:

  • Wednesday 10th June
    Glossop - Army Cadet Centre - 7pm - 9pm
    Joint training Centre, Ripley Police HQ - 7pm - 9pm
  • Thursday 11th June
    Chesterfield Seniors - Chesterfield Fire Station- 7pm - 9pm
    Derby Section - Broomfield College - 7pm - 9pm

At Derbyshire Constabulary, we aim to create an environment that puts people first. We want you to feel supported in everything you do, so you can give your very best. As well as experiencing the different areas of policing such as task force, dog section, road policing unit and other operational teams, the scheme is structured to allow you to attain your Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

You will need to be between the ages of 13-18 years old (Academic years 9 to 13 as of September 2026).
