As a Derbyshire Constabulary police cadet, you’ll be helping your community. You’ll take part in weekly cadet meetings, social action projects and local initiatives aimed at raising the profile of young people in the county and giving you a real insight into policing. We have current cadet opportunities in Chesterfield if you are aged between 10-13 years old.

What’s in for you?
At Derbyshire Constabulary, we aim to create an environment that puts people first. We want you to feel supported in everything you do, so you can give your very best. As well as experiencing the different areas of policing such as task force, dog section, road policing unit and other operational teams, the programme allows you to continue your cadet journey into the Senior Cadet programme should you wish. You will need to be between the ages of 10 - 13 years old (Academic years 6 to 8 as of September 2026).
