We have a vacancy for enthusiastic Band 6, Specialised Podiatrist to join our brilliant podiatry team in the Chesterfield and North East locality of Derbyshire Community Health Services.

As well as direct patient care and treatment planning for patients with complex needs, you will work with a wide variety of patient types which may include working with Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) in acute trusts. The post will require flexibility and ability to work across sites and teams according to service needs and therefore transport will be essential.

Main duties of the job

  • The opportunity to work in varied settings across the beautiful county of Derbyshire, including hospitals, health centres and patients' homes.
  • The opportunity to provide a quality, good value service to a wide variety of patient types and develop close working relationships with our Multi-Disciplinary Diabetes team in the local acute trust, our Podiatric Surgery team, other DCHS services and local NHS trusts.
  • An annual appraisal and personal development plan.
  • Supportive mentorship and preceptorship.
  • CPD arranged by the Podiatry Service in addition to the essential learning required by the trust.
  • To become part of our team; to have involvement in team meetings and the opportunity to make valuable contributions to the team meetings, staff forums and via staff surveys and pulse checks.

About us

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire. We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people's own homes and via virtual consultations.

Job responsibilities

  • To be part of a highly motivated team, providing a high standard of clinical care.
  • To assess, diagnose, develop and implement individualized care packages in order to maximize ulcer prevention for patients with a wide variety of clinical needs, including acute or chronic neuropathies, chronic disease, vascular problems and wound management.
  • The post holder will also be expected to plan and manage their own caseload, which will include providing specialist care to patients with diabetes, rheumatological and biomechanical issues.
  • As part of the Podiatry Team and wider trust, contribute to the development and adhere to the Podiatry Department and Trust policies, strategies, and objectives.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Podiatry
  • Registrant of Health Care Professional Council (HCPC)
  • Local Anaesthesia Certificate
  • Participation in CPD

Experience and Knowledge

  • Evidence of clinical development following graduation
  • Able to assess, diagnose, implement and evaluate for a wider range of clinical needs
  • Ability to assess diabetic patients
  • Experience of minor surgical procedures

Skills

  • Able to demonstrate highly specialised physical skills
  • Able to liaise with and share care with other health care professionals

Car Driver

Car driver with a full driving licence or the ability to travel across location during the working day.
