We are part of Suffolk Primary Care, which is a group of GP practices delivering patient care across Suffolk. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible Practice Nurse, with excellent interpersonal skills, to join our fantastic team at The Derby Road Practice in Ipswich. The Derby Road Practice is a two site practice. The vacancy is for part time, up to 14 hours; however, this may be negotiable for the right candidate. Flexibility is crucial to accommodate training, holidays and occasional sickness. The Derby Road Practice supports in excess of 19,000 patients from a diverse range of backgrounds. We have an established team with a strong focus on customer service and on developing and nurturing staff in order to deliver excellent standards of patient care. We would love to hear from candidates with healthcare experience. We are also keen to hear from those that can show flexibility and a range of transferable skills. We use SystmOne and AskmyGP to facilitate effective and efficient ways of working. You should be able to work calmly and professionally as part of a team, with the ability to multi‑task. A strong command of written and spoken English with an excellent telephone manner is a must. Good time‑management skills and the ability to follow protocols and instruction and attention to detail is essential. Job responsibilities
Job Summary
To provide nursing services to patients on the practice list, including assessment, advice within the professional competence of the postholder, screening and treatment. Extra training will be provided for new duties undertaken. The post holder will work in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides care directly to patients without referral via another senior nurse or doctor.
- To undertake general nursing duties within the nursing team, including:
- Immunisations including childhood immunisations
- Cervical smears
- Contraception advice and pill checks
- Wound dressings and reviews
- Treatment room
- To work to practice protocols and guidelines.
Optional Responsibilities
- Chronic disease management
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Health assessment and screening to the practice population (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
- Advise patients on general health and minor ailments with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
- Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independently to agreed protocols.
- Implement a systematic approach to care, to include efficient and accurate record keeping for the benefit and safety of patients/clients, continuity of care and professional security.
- Assist with the development of work practices within agreed policies to provide the optimum standards of care.
