Are you friendly, enthusiastic, dynamic, a good storyteller and a great team player who can communicate confidently and effectively to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders? The Individual Giving Officer is a pivotal role that looks after our growing community of supporters. You will be able to work flexibly at our Museum and Art Gallery and from home and will help implement our fundraising strategy, with a particular focus on looking after our Friends, legacy pledgers, in‑memory supporters, fundraising event supporters, Buy a Bird and Adopt an Object supporters.

You will play a key role in supporting our fundraising and membership communications, crafting engaging social media copy and e‑news to promote charitable giving, lead Individual Giving appeals, act as our first point of contact for legacy pledgers and enquirers and pull together the Derby Museums Friends ‘Orrery’ Newsletter. You will also help ensure our supporters feel appreciated through processing donations and sending out warm and timely thank you letters.

The successful candidate may be a recent graduate or already be working in a marketing or fundraising environment.

The Person

You will be a proactive individual with a passion for building and developing strong supporter relationships. You will have an organised approach, be skilled in storytelling and copywriting, have an eye for detail and a flair for communications. Database experience will also be an advantage. Most importantly you will have a strong belief in your ability to make a positive impact, and a strong commitment to working in the heritage sector.

The Place

Derby Museums is a charitable trust which manages three museums and cares for collections of cultural heritage on behalf of Derby City Council. This includes the finest collection of work by the 18th century British artist Joseph Wright of Derby and extensive collections of natural science, world cultures, archaeology and making.

Derby is a city with a heart, in the heart of England. It’s a friendly, prosperous but affordable place on the edge of the beautiful Peak District and has great ambitions to place culture at the heart of its future prosperity.

Hours: 22.5 hours a week including occasional evening / weekend working

Contract Type: Permanent

Employee Benefits: 20 days (pro rata) + bank holidays (pro rata), flexible working, mileage allowance payable on authorised business travel.
