Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT) is a Multi Academy Trust that oversees and supports 33 schools across Derbyshire and Derby City. DDAT is looking for an Interim HR Officer for an immediate start who wants to make a genuine impact across a growing Multi Academy Trust. This is a hands-on, trusted role where your advice, judgement and consistency will directly support schools, leaders and the wider Trust.

You will be employed on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, working full-time (40 hours). Part-time would also be considered for an experienced candidate. The role is based at our Head Office in the beautiful Peak District countryside in Bakewell, with travel to our schools across Derby and Derbyshire, and the option to work from home up to two days per week.

What DDAT are seeking in an Interim HR Officer:

  • Relevant degree level or hold or be working towards the CIPD qualifications.
  • Previous experience delivering professional operational HR support within a complex organisation
  • Strong working knowledge of employee relations and excellent UK employment law knowledge
  • Ideally, knowledge of the Education Sector, Green and Burgundy book (NJC Terms and Conditions)
  • Experience supporting and advising senior and middle leaders
  • Ability to manage a high-volume, varied workload effectively
  • Confidence working across multiple stakeholders and environments

  • Skilled user of Microsoft Office, with the ability to produce, create and edit documents using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

What you will be doing as an Interim HR Officer at Derby Diocesan Academy Trust:

  • Delivering a fully integrated service to schools and the central Trust team
  • Advising and supporting leaders on employee relations, change and people management matters
  • Working collaboratively with senior colleagues to support consistent HR practices
  • Managing a varied caseload across multiple sites with competing priorities
  • Contributing to the ongoing development and consolidation of Trust-wide HR operations

Immediate start available. Hours per week: Full-time 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Part-time would be considered for an experienced candidate.
