Derby County are seeking to recruit a part-time Youth Development Phase Coach to join Academy Coaching at Moor Farm Training Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Youth Development Phase (U12-U16) in meeting the targets outlined in the Academy Performance Plan, Academy Playing & Coaching Philosophy and Academy Values. The candidate will also assist in delivering the coaching programme within the Youth Development Phase and contribute to the effective running of the Youth Development Phase Day Release programme whilst promoting the holistic development of players, ensuring their individual needs are met in line with their Individual Development Plans and model and uphold exemplary practice that reflects the DCFC Academy values for both players and staff across the phase.
Key Role Responsibilities- Coach an assigned age group squad and take responsibility for the progression and individual development of all players within the age group.
- Ensure full adherence to the academy’s holistic player development approach at all times.
- Complete all academy requirements on Kitman Labs and Hudl in line with established standards and deadlines.
- Conduct player and parent review meetings every ten weeks, following academy guidelines.
- Coach and manage the team within the age group games programme, overseeing all related logistical and operational arrangements.
- Take ownership of your professional development via your Development Action Plan, aligned with the DCFC Coach Competency Framework.
- Undertake ongoing personal CPD as required to meet the demands of the role.
- Support the retain and release process in line with club policies and procedures.
- Coaching within a football academy environment.
- Experience of using the Kitman Labs Platform (Desirable).
- Coaching within a Category 1 environment (Desirable).
- Playing at a semi-professional or professional standard (Desirable).
- Confident, Resilient and Self Motivated.
- Excellent Communications skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent Presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, target driven environment.
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
- Work using own initiative and as part of a team.
- Hardworking and enthusiastic.
- Essential: UEFA B License, FA Youth Award, Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football, Safeguarding Children Certificate.
- Desirable: UEFA A License, FA Advanced Youth Award (YDP).
The role is paid a sessional coaching rate, dependent on the type of session being delivered. This role is a casual part-time and fixed-term until May 2027, based at the Derby County Training Centre, but some travel may be required.
