Derby College Group (DCG) are looking for a Nursery Room Co‑ordinator to join our amazing team at our Little Explorers Nursery. The Room Coordinator at Little Explorers leads a nurturing, inclusive, and high‑quality learning environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn. The role is centred on implementing the setting’s core values through positive relationships, intentional teaching, and consistent leadership that promotes wellbeing, curiosity, respect, and independence.

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role within the room, shaping a child‑centred and engaging learning environment that reflects the values and vision of Little Explorers. As Room Coordinator, you will lead pedagogical and curriculum practice, creating inspiring play‑based experiences that support every child’s individual development and learning journey in line with the EYFS. You will have the chance to guide and support staff, model outstanding practice, build strong relationships with families, and help maintain enabling environments where children can thrive. The role is ideal for someone passionate about reflective practice, high‑quality early years education, and making a positive impact on outcomes for every child.

About You

You will be a passionate and motivated early years professional with strong staff management skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. With a sound working knowledge of the EYFS and nursery policies, you will be committed to delivering high‑quality care and learning experiences for children. You will hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification or equivalent, alongside Level 2 English and Maths and a current First Aid qualification. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about professional development and bringing new ideas into practice, with additional qualifications such as Forest School experience, childcare training knowledge, or higher‑level study being highly valued.
