Derby College Group (DCG) is excited to offer a meaningful opportunity for a Student Experience & Pastoral Coach dedicated to supporting our Care Experienced students. In this role, you’ll work closely with specific academies to identify those who need pastoral support, building trusted relationships that empower students to thrive. You’ll join a supportive, vibrant team and play a key part in shaping positive experiences and outcomes for some of our most vulnerable students. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of Care Experienced and vulnerable students.

As a Student Experience & Pastoral Coach, you’ll build strong, supportive relationships, provide targeted 1:1 and group coaching, and help remove barriers to learning, attendance and progression. You’ll be a visible and proactive presence across campuses, working closely with families and external professionals to develop effective support plans. Alongside this, you’ll create enriching activities that promote wellbeing, community, confidence and a positive student experience.

About you

You’re a compassionate, organised and proactive individual who’s committed to supporting young people to thrive. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you handle sensitive situations professionally and with discretion. You bring experience working collaboratively in a team, an understanding of social, emotional and mental health needs, and confidence using a range of IT systems. Ideally, you’ll hold (or be willing to work towards) a Level 3 coaching or mentoring qualification and Mental Health First Aider training, helping you provide inclusive, empowering support for all students.
