As the Team Leader for the Blue Badge and Business Development teams within Parking Services, you will have the opportunity to plan, manage, organise, improve and direct the work of the teams to ensure the service is effective in delivering statutory services to the public in line with national guidelines set by the Department for Transport and local service agreements.

This is a varied role within Parking Services, providing the opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of wider services. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership experience while making a positive contribution to both residents and the wider organisation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead, support and develop the Blue Badge and Business Development team, creating a positive working environment where people understand expectations and are supported to perform at their best.
  • Oversee the quality and consistency of Blue Badge decision‑making, providing guidance on more complex cases and ensuring decisions are fair, evidence‑based and in line with Department for Transport guidance.
  • Manage day‑to‑day service performance, workloads and priorities, responding to emerging pressures and making sure customers receive a timely and effective service.
  • Identify and deliver service improvements, using performance information, customer feedback and operational experience to make processes more efficient, accessible and customer‑focused.
  • Help ensure the service operates within relevant legislation, council policies and financial requirements, addressing risks and escalating significant issues where necessary.

About you

  • Experience of leading, supporting and developing a team, including managing performance, workloads and competing priorities.
  • Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to review information objectively and make fair, evidence‑based decisions.
  • Experience of delivering a customer‑focused service and maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and consistency.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with colleagues, customers and partners, including when dealing with complex or sensitive matters.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload, respond to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • A collaborative and supportive leadership style, with the ability to use initiative and contribute positively to a wider management team.
