This is an unusual and exciting opportunity for an experienced Educational Psychologist ready for promotion. Derby City LA has identified an opportunity to create two new specialist positions to expand upon and complement the current service model.

The successful candidates will be experienced, creative educational psychologists who have spent at least four years working within council services to acquire the knowledge, skills and commitment needed to promote and provide an educational psychology contribution towards inclusion for children in care and at risk of exclusion. In this role you will manage and co‐ordinate an identified area of specialist service delivery and establish additional areas of skills and expertise. Post holders will work closely and in partnership with colleagues in health, in the County Council, the Virtual School and the Inclusion and Attendance team.

We are looking to employ 1 x Specialist Educational Psychologists who can take a lead on:

Attachment and Trauma (specifically the Virtual School and children at risk of exclusion)

We are looking for Educational Psychologists who have a proven interest in one of the above specialist areas.

We would welcome hearing from ambitious candidates who have specialist knowledge, experience, skills or interests linked to promoting neurodiversity and/or relational approaches.

The successful applicants will play an influential role in our multi‐disciplinary service. You will support the practice of colleagues across our teams. You will have dedicated time to undertake the role and to influence strategic developments. The role offers a good balance of work at all levels of the system for an experienced EP who is keen to have influence in shaping the system in which they work.

The successful applicant will work as part of the Specialist Teaching and Psychology Service (STePS). We are a motivated, friendly, supportive and professional service comprising educational psychologists, specialist and advisory teachers, early years SEND specialists and advisors who work together to provide a fully integrated service for children, schools and early years settings.

Team members are expected to be able to carry out in‐person visits to schools, homes and settings in Derby and also attend and lead in‐person meetings and training but some tasks lend themselves to home working and some meetings are online. If you prefer working from an office we have dedicated desks in the Council House.

Derby City council offers genuine flexible working to support a healthy work‐life balance and as an LA employee you will have access to CPD and supervision.

Derby is a multi‐cultural city with a diverse population. We hope you will consider joining us.
