We are looking for two SEND Team Managers to lead and manage the SEND team in the Learning, Inclusion and Skills Service. The role focuses on delivering high quality support to children and young people with SEND across secondary and post‑16 settings, handling annual reviews, phased transfers, complaints, tribunals, and associated statutory duties.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on secondary/post‑16 and annual reviews, managing the annual review cycle, phased transfers process and oversight of the secondary and preparing for adulthood agenda for pupils with SEND.
  • Lead on complaints, tribunals, mediation and the SEND tribunal, ensuring best practice and compliance.
  • Work alongside the primary and new assessments manager to ensure all statutory duties are met.
  • Supervise, manage and develop team members, fostering a collaborative environment and driving effective service delivery.
  • Partner with families, educators and wider community stakeholders.
  • Make decisions within statutory frameworks, manage financial implications and handle legal challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Detailed knowledge of mechanisms supporting schools and settings to meet the educational needs of children and young people with SEND.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, guidance and Government initiatives.
  • Experience managing and inspiring teams, with excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • High organisational and time‑management abilities, capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience of working in education or children’s services, with a passion for SEND.
