We want every child and young person with special educational needs and/or disabilities in Derby to be able to ‘live their best life’. The SEND Service plays a vital role in making sure that this happens. We work with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities to ensure they achieve well in their early years at school and in college and lead happy and fulfilling lives.

You will join a dedicated team of decision makers, formulating education, health and care (EHC) plans in accordance with the SEND code of practice. You will collaborate with colleagues in health, schools, and social care, to fully involve children and young people, and their parents and carers, to ensure they receive the support they need and achieve their potential through co-produced EHC plans.

You should be passionate about providing the best opportunities for our children and young people, and be innovative and creative in solving problems. Empathy and resilience are essential in supporting children, young people, and their families through the assessment process. You will also support the service’s continuous improvement by identifying blockages and proposing solutions to meet statutory obligations.
