Derby City Council has an exciting opportunity for a forward‑thinking project manager to join our expanding Project and Change Team to support a number of projects across the Council. This is an exciting opportunity to support various projects that include Fostering, AI and other change projects that are essential to Derby City Council's Change Programme and align with the council plan. We are looking for a Project Manager who can think strategically, work collaboratively with key stakeholders, and want to make a difference to the citizens of Derby.

Opportunity

In the role of Project Manager, here's an example of what you'll be doing to make an impact:

  • Managing complex projects across the Council from initiation to completion.
  • Co‑ordinate cross‑functional project teams, potentially including staff from other departments, external contractors and consultants, suppliers, and other third parties, to achieve the objectives of assigned projects.
  • Ensure key stakeholders are regularly updated on progress, producing key formal documents to enable decision making and ensuring that any concerns are escalated to the SRO at an early stage.
  • Support with facilitating service improvement by reviewing business processes and systems to deliver improved, efficient services.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

  • Experience of managing projects in accordance with agreed project management principles and understand continuous improvement methodology.
  • Experience of working in a consultative role with Directors and senior managers across the organisation.
  • Have a project management qualification or have substantial project management experience.
