We are seeking an analytical and driven Programme Finance Officer to join our busy team. In this key role, you will be the principal financial partner for our major construction and infrastructure projects, bridging the gap between project/strategy managers and accountancy teams, ensuring multi-million-pound schemes are delivered on time, within budget, and fully compliant.

The Opportunity
In the role of Programme Finance Officer, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
- Managing the financial life cycle of large-scale, long-term asset investments.
- Providing a comprehensive financial service to comply with statutory obligations.
- Providing expert financial support and advice to project, programmes, budget managers, Heads of Service, and Service Directors in accordance with national regulations, and the Derby City Financial regulations.
- Fulfilling the Section 151 Officer’s responsibilities in terms of financial governance, risk and control.
- Ensuring compliance, managing grant funding and capital receipts and providing financial reporting to stakeholders.
- Keeping projects within budget and on schedule whilst acting as a bridge between programme staff and finance departments, ensuring funds are used efficiently to meet project objectives within budget.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:
- AAT and extensive relevant experience.
- A detailed knowledge of the applicable accounting principles and practices.
- A comprehensive knowledge of budget monitoring, including budget development, reconciling and forecasting.
- An in-depth knowledge of the workings of an accounting software package, preferably CIA.
