Overview
The Council's Corporate Finance Team is looking for a Tax Advice and Compliance Manager to oversee compliance with all relevant tax legislation and the submission of appropriate taxation returns.
Responsibilities
- Provide highâstandard strategic and operational tax advice to Senior Responsible Officers and Directors.
- Support the submission of relevant tax returns and ensure compliance with tax legislation.
- Assist in delivering a balanced Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP) by ensuring all tax matters are compliant.
- Deliver effective line management and staff development.
- Ensure the organisation adheres to all relevant financial standards and practices.
- Support wider Corporate Finance Team objectives, including budget setting, audit programme and account closure.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified CCAB (or equivalent), including CIMA.
- Demonstrable experience in an accountancy or taxation role, preparing taxation information for HMRC and management.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills; ability to model budget and financing issues relating to taxation.
- Excellent written and oral communication across all levels.
- Good organisational and timeâmanagement skills.
- Experienced user of IT packages and financial ledger systems.
- Capacity to assess tax implications of service proposals and developments.

- Track record of achievement and success in relevant work experience.
- Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines.
- High initiative and selfâmotivation.
