You will support pupils at Portway Junior School in a high-pressure environment, working with a range of stakeholders and providing support for special educational needs. The role requires adaptability, flexibility, creativity and proactive initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils' learning in accordance with the school's curriculum.
  • Assist teaching staff during lessons, classroom activities and support for pupils with special educational needs.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks during term time.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies.
  • Maintain lesson resources, classroom environment and safety procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Previous teaching assistant or childcare experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a fast-moving environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding – an enhanced DBS clearance is required.
  • Disciplinary and recruitment checks that comply with the Keeping Children Safe in Education policy.
