The Opportunity
Inspect dwellings and enforce statutory provisions to ensure compliance with housing standards, providing guidance, information, and training to landlords. Prepare, monitor and authorise legal and other documentation, and, where necessary, instigate legal proceedings to enforce statutory obligations. Keep up to date with relevant legislation, standards, guidance and develop specialist knowledge to ensure compliance with statutory requirements. Attend and contribute to meetings, committees, public enquiries, tribunals and court hearings in a technical, expert or advisory capacity.
About You
- Good knowledge of deficiencies, hazards and housing, and an understanding of enforcement options.
- Experience dealing with the general public, tenants of private rented sector accommodation and landlords of private rented sector accommodation.
- Possession of a CIEH approved Higher Certificate in Housing Practice/Diploma in Housing Regulation, or a BTech in Environmental Health, or a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Regulatory Compliance (Housing), or be working towards a qualification.
- Possession of a certificate of training in the Housing Health and Safety Rating System – HHSRS.
- Educated to A Level or equivalent.
