The role involves leading and managing all aspects of affordable housing delivery projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality for those in housing need in Derby. Projects range from acquisitions or conversions to new build and are of varying sizes and budgets. The successful candidate will typically oversee several projects simultaneously, with smaller projects spanning from conception to completion and larger projects split between pre‑contract and post‑contract stages. Throughout each project the holder will monitor costs and provide financial oversight to keep the project deliverable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of affordable housing projects, ensuring they stay on programme and on budget.
  • Oversee all project stages, including acquisition, conversion, and new build.
  • Monitor project costs and provide financial monitoring to maintain deliverability.
  • Work flexibly, balancing home and professional life, with a mix of office and home working.

Qualifications

  • Experience of affordable housing delivery with a Local Authority, Registered Provider or similar organisation.
  • Experience of project and programme management.
  • Knowledge of affordable housing design and/or construction.
  • Budget management knowledge.
  • Report writing experience.
  • Ability to work within a team or independently.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
