We have an exciting opportunity to join the Council’s Corporate Health and Safety Team. You will play a key role in delivering ‘safety beyond compliance’ by supporting services to manage their health and safety risks in a proactive way by delivering impactful change and assurance that services are managing their H&S responsibilities.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Corporate Health and Safety Team Manager you will work closely with health and safety team colleagues and all council services.

You will:

  • Provide strong, bold, visible, proactive, and functional health and safety leadership
  • Deliver high quality, professional advice and proactive support
  • Influence and empower services to shape and implement robust health and safety plans that drive performance improvements where required
  • Develop policies and processes to assist and enable the council to comply and achieve improved outcomes
  • Undertake health and safety audits and inspections ensuring that preventive actions are implemented
  • Undertake accident /incident investigations

Applicants must hold at least the minimum of the NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent level qualification in Health and Safety and current membership of a relevant health and safety professional body such as the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
