The Opportunity
In the role of Finance Officer – Adult Social Care Debt, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
- Managing and collecting outstanding care debt from service users and/or their representatives
- Working closely with service users and their families to agree on sustainable payment plans
- Analysing financial data and preparing reports on debt status using bespoke IT systems
- Providing financial advice and support when required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:
- GCSE Maths & English Grade 4 – 9 (A – C) or equivalent qualification
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically
- Experience of working in a customer focussed financial administrative role within Adult Social Care
- Experience of accurately maintaining computerised financial systems and payment systems
- High level of numeracy skills
- Ability to record and present information accurately
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with sensitive and challenging issues in a confident and professional manner with a variety of audiences
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office including Excel, Outlook & Word
- Good organisational skills and ability to work towards multiple deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team but with self-motivation and ability to work on own initiative
It is desirable that you have:
- Experience of adhering to Financial Regulations & Procedures
- Debt recovery experience
- Experience of working with state benefit rules
- Experience of administering and monitoring Direct Payments
- Experience of working as a Financial Assessment Officer
- Knowledge of the Care Act (2014) and the Care and Support (Charging & Assessment of Resources) Regulations (2014)
