The Opportunity

In the role of Senior Training and Education Officer, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact: We are offering a unique opportunity to join our team as a Senior Training and Education Officer (Adults), where you will play a pivotal role in shaping a confident, skilled, and values-led Adult Social Care workforce. You will coordinate, commission, and deliver high-quality development opportunities for registered Social Workers, lead practice learning for students on placement, and contribute to a robust CPD offer in partnership with the Principal Social Worker.

Your work will span the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme, Practice Education, Social Work apprenticeships, and a diverse range of creative learning events tailored to support excellent practice. You will also play a key role in embedding Strengths-Based Approaches and our Adult Social Care Practice Framework, ensuring learning directly enhances the quality of care and outcomes for adults across the city.

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current professional registration and substantial post-qualification experience in adult social work practice (assessment, support planning, safeguarding, risk management, strengths-based approaches).
  • Proven track record of delivering improved outcomes for adults with care and support needs, promoting independence and choice.
  • Level 2 Practice Educator qualification with experience supervising, assessing and supporting social work students.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching and providing reflective supervision to social care professionals.
  • Ability to design, deliver, commission and evaluate high-quality learning and development programmes.
  • Strong leadership and change-management experience, including implementing new legislation and supporting service improvement.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, negotiation and report-writing skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities, including effective meeting facilitation.
  • Ability to identify and model good practice, applying social work theory, legislation and current best practice.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams, partners and agencies, promoting positive working relationships.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, with sound knowledge of the Equality Act 2010.
