This is a key role where you will support management of information requests such as data protection requests including subject access, as well as freedom of information & environmental information requests. Your work will make a real difference to promoting transparency of personal and commercial data whilst ensuring legal implications are considered and applied.

The Opportunity

In the role of Information Governance Officer, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:

  • Manage and respond to requests for information in relation to data protection, freedom of information and environmental information regulations
  • Support colleagues and senior leaders, with clear, practical advice on information governance and data protection
  • Assist with complaints and investigations
  • Maintain the Council’s FOI publication scheme in line with current legislation
  • Advise on records retention, data handling, and information security to ensure compliance and reduce risk
  • Support wider governance initiatives across the Council

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have a good knowledge of the Data Protection Act and its implications.
