We are seeking to appoint an Operational DSL and Pastoral Lead to work in our welcoming and inclusive three form entry Infant and Nursery School. As a member of our staff, you will be motivated to always strive for the best outcome for every child in school.
About us: Ravensdale Infant and Nursery School is a larger than average infant and nursery school and the only one of its kind in the local area. We are a Local Authority School and work closely as a positive and supportive staff team alongside our parents and community.
We are currently looking for an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead to take responsibility for operational safeguarding and child protection across the school (including online safety), who is also an excellent practitioner with a passion for supporting children. The role we are offering includes leading the provision of pastoral care for all children to secure excellent teaching, so they all achieve their potential within an atmosphere in which they feel challenged, valued and secure and to assist the Headteacher and the Leadership Team in the overall management and development of the school.
You will provide high quality advice and guidance to school leaders and colleagues across the full spectrum of child protection and welfare matters, shaping and embedding systems, policies, and procedures. The role will include liaising with relevant agencies such as the local authority children's services and police.
As such, the role demands an individual with real gravitas; someone who can challenge, support and secure confidence from colleagues in and outside of the school.
We have an exciting and forward-thinking approach to behaviour in school and all staff use this system of relational behaviour management which makes a very happy and calm environment to learn and work in.
About you:
- Our ideal candidates will be positive, enthusiastic and ambitious with the ability to instil these qualities in our children. They will be able to establish strong relationships and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- It is essential that they are able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection as well as having an understanding of Attachment and Trauma and how this affects children.
At RINS we aim to recruit individuals who display the competence and character to drive our school and children to be ambitious, spark imagination, celebrate success
In return for your hard work and dedication we will offer you:
- A supportive environment and a dedicated team around you where talents are valued and nurtured.
- High-quality continuous professional development, with the chance to take on new responsibilities in the future.
- A fantastic community of children, teachers, governors and parents.
Interviews will be held on: The week beginning the 9th November 2026
Ravensdale Infant and Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and the welfare of children and expects all staff to share in this.
Due to this post having access to children, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
