The Opportunity:
- Look after the day to day running of parking and traffic enforcement equipment, such as cameras, handheld devices and other on street kit, making sure everything is working safely and correctly.
- Respond to reports of faults, carry out basic investigations and repairs, and decide when issues need to be passed to specialist contractors or suppliers.
- Install, test and configure new devices and software, following clear procedures so that staff can use them confidently and evidence is recorded accurately.
- Monitor system performance and data, spotting patterns such as repeated faults or coverage gaps, and suggesting practical ways to improve reliability.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance, inspections, replacements and upgrades so that equipment histories are clear and work can be planned in advance.
- Work closely with enforcement teams and office staff, explaining technical issues in plain language and making sure equipment supports their work.
- Support formal investigations or challenges by locating and checking digital evidence, and ensuring it is stored securely and can be retrieved when needed.
- Reviewing Evidence Packs from ANPR cameras and live monitoring of enforcement cameras.
About You:
- Practical experience of maintaining, repairing or installing equipment, machinery or similar technical kit, ideally in an outdoor or field-based role.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety, with the ability to work safely on or near roads, at height and with tools and equipment.
- Confident in fault-finding and problem-solving, using a logical approach to identify issues and decide on the best fix.
- Ability to use handheld devices and basic IT systems to record work, update job details and follow instructions.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work professionally with colleagues, contractors and members of the public.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan your day, manage multiple tasks and work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
- A flexible approach to working hours and locations across the city, including occasional work outside normal hours when required.
- A valid driving licence (or equivalent) enabling you to travel between sites as part of your normal duties.
