We are looking for a skilled Arboricultural Officer to manage and protect the trees in the city, supporting the delivery of safe, attractive and sustainable parks and green spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of arborists, chargehands, and tree inspector, promoting their personal development through Great Performance Conversations.
  • Ensure tree inspections and surveys are conducted in line with risk and maintenance needs.
  • Provide expert arboriculture advice to colleagues, members, residents and external partners.
  • Prepare work specifications and schedules for tree works and monitor contractors on site.
  • Contribute to the management of protected trees, including TPOs and trees in conservation areas.
  • Respond to enquiries, service requests and tree emergencies.
  • Participate in the delivery of a safe, attractive and sustainable parks and green space environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant arboriculture qualifications and practical experience in tree inspection and management.
  • Confidence in making sound, evidence-based decisions and explaining recommendations clearly.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and ability to travel across the city.
  • Commitment to health and safety, excellent customer service and values, including equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethos.
  • Valid Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience leading a team is desirable.
