The Opportunity: In the role of Apprentice HR Shared Services Assistant, here\’s an example of what you\’ll be doing to make an impact:
- Working in the Payroll, Pensions & Benefits and Recruitment teams to answer telephone and email queries from members of the public and Council colleagues
- Updating Council systems to ensure data is processed and maintained accurately
- Writing and sending correspondence and processing paper documents such as post received and payslips
- Checking and cleansing data within Council systems
- Monitoring team mailboxes and distributing to colleagues
- Running and issuing reports taken from the system
About You
- A basic knowledge of HR Shared Services including Payroll, Pensions & Benefits and Recruitment
- Ability to interpret and input data accurately
- IT skills – such as using Microsoft based packages
- GCSE Maths and English – Grade C or equivalent
- Experience of providing administrative support previously is desirable but not essential, as is customer service gained through handling telephone and email queries

Contract Type: Temporary for up to 18 months. Derby City Council is looking for 2 Apprentice HR Shared Services Assistants to join our HR Shared Services team, which is a key support function within the organisation. This Apprenticeship opportunity will give you varied practical experience and understanding of how our Payroll, Pensions & Benefits and Recruitment teams support the Council\’s employees and the delivery of Council services. The Apprenticeship is a temporary post and is expected to last up to 18 months during which you will undertake a HR Support Apprenticeship Level 3 qualification, with time made available for you to complete your studies.
