The Accounts Receivable Service are looking for a driven and enthusiastic officer who has experience of working with Debt Recovery, specialising in Adult Social Care and Sundry cases. In this role you will have the chance to become part of the Council’s innovative debt recovery team, balancing effective income collection with empathy and fairness; helping to protect essential Council services while supporting residents who may be experiencing financial difficulties. The Opportunity

  • Investigate any accounts where escalation of recovery action is not happening to ensure that all accounts have the appropriate recovery action taken without delays.
  • Fully prepare and submit cases for litigation action via the money claim online (MCOL) process or via the County Court or other Court of competent jurisdiction.
  • Support the Council’s legal representative in cases where a litigation claim is defended.
  • Prepare and submit cases for recovery action by the Council external debt recovery agents.
  • Proactively chase debts to ensure maximum collection of Sundry & Adult Social Care Debts.
  • Assist with customer contact either written, electronic, telephone and face to face about Accounts Receivable recovery and enforcement matters as and when directed or required.
  • Liaise with other sections, Council departments and outside stakeholders, partners and agencies as necessary.

About You

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both internally within the Council and externally.
  • Experience of using business finance systems.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to maintain accurate computer records.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • A flexible approach to the management of your caseload.
  • Prepare reports and statistical information.
  • Knowledge of Accounts Receivable processes, with particular emphasis on recovery and enforcement methods.
