Position: Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion, SEND & Alternative Provision
Location: Derby Cathedral School
Curriculum Focus: Key Stage 3 & 4
Start date: 1st January 2027 or ASAP
Qualifications & Experience
- Good quality Honours degree in a related subject
- PGCE or equivalent in secondary or primary education
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Ability to deliver elements of key curriculum areas
- Successful experience teaching the relevant subject at Key Stage 3 & 4
- Leadership and management experience
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, external agencies, and students
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Commitment to promoting positive behaviour management strategies
- Knowledge or willingness to learn about alternative provision pathways suitable for Key Stage 4 learners
