The Transport Planner is responsible for planning and controlling a dedicated fleet of approximately 15–20 vehicles, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective transport operations. The role includes day-to-day responsibility for driver costs and performance KPIs, while delivering high service levels and efficient vehicle utilisation.

  • Plan and manage daily and weekly transport activity for a fleet of 15–20 trucks
  • Monitor and control driver-related costs (overtime, waiting time, inefficiencies)
  • Ensure all planned movements comply with transport regulations and company procedures
  • Communicate clearly with drivers, operations, customers, and the planning team
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information within transport management systems
  • Escalate service, cost, or compliance risks to the Planning Supervisor as required

Performance & KPIs

  • Accountable for performance across the allocated fleet, including:
  • OTD (On Time Delivery)
  • Driver cost control (overtime, waiting time, inefficiencies)
  • Compliance with ADR, driver hours, and company standards
  • Ensure all transport plans meet health, safety, and compliance requirements
  • Escalate any safety or compliance concerns immediately

Experience in UK transport planning or logistics operations

Confident managing a dedicated fleet and driver group

Strong commercial awareness with a focus on cost control

Good IT skills, including transport systems and Microsoft Office

Full-time, depot-based role. Shift work and flexibility may be required to support operations.
