Depop is a peer‑to‑peer circular fashion marketplace where anyone can buy, sell and discover secondhand fashion.

Our mission is simple: to make fashion circular by making secondhand as exciting and rewarding as buying new.

Founded in 2011, our diverse community has helped move resale into the mainstream, where buying secondhand is no longer an alternative but how people of different ages now engage with fashion.

Today, more than 56million registered users come to Depop to find great value, express their own personal style and give clothes a longer life.

Powered by a team of over 500 people, we are headquartered in London, with offices in New York, and are a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Etsy.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Product Designer to join the New Seller Experience team at Depop, part of our Supply pillar.

This is a fixed‑term contract of approximately 12months covering maternity leave.

The designer will help new users make their first sale by creating a simpler seller onboarding, guided first‑seller experience, milestone system, and trust signals that motivate new sellers.

Responsibilities

  • Design end‑to‑end experiences across the new seller journey, including onboarding, lister experience, milestones, and trust signals.
  • Partner with Product, Research, and Data teams to deeply understand new seller and buyer needs, turning insights into actionable design.
  • Champion simplicity for new users: focus on one key action at a time, favour step‑by‑step flows, and educate users on photos, pricing, descriptions, shipping and payments at the right moment.
  • Apply motivational and behavioural design (targets, progress, streaks, milestones) to help new sellers build listing habits and reach their first sale.
  • Continuously iterate and improve new seller experience flows based on experimentation, research, and performance data.
  • Champion high‑quality craft, UI consistency, and system thinking across products.
  • Contribute to defining the New Seller Experience team’s design strategy and roadmap in alignment with Depop’s broader Supply goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing user experiences for i OS, Web and Android.
  • Good understanding of mobile and desktop UX and UI patterns.
  • Demonstrated experience with end‑to‑end product design (UX & UI).
  • Proficiency in UX / UI tools (Figma, Claude, etc.).
  • Effective prototyping skills (Figma, Figma Make, Claude, Cursor).
  • A portfolio showing high‑quality, thoughtful UX and UI work.
  • Ability to translate user research, user testing and data insight into design directives.
  • Ability to tell compelling arguments about design proposals.
  • Ability to facilitate and run cross‑functional workshops.
  • Experience working on a design and product strategy to determine the team’s and product direction.
  • Able to hit the ground running and deliver impact within a fixed‑term engagement.
  • Proficiency in AI tools.
  • Good to have (but not essential): experience designing onboarding, activation, or first‑time user experiences.
  • A strong grasp of motivational design and gamification patterns (milestones, streaks, progress, rewards).
  • Ability to design flows and experiences that simplify and distil complex actions into usable interfaces.
  • Understanding of e‑commerce and/or marketplace dynamics, and platform‑to‑user, user‑to‑user, and user‑to‑platform interactions.

Benefits

  • Health & Mental Wellbeing: PMI and cash plan healthcare access with Bupa, subsidised counselling and coaching with Self Space.
  • Cycle to Work scheme with options from Evans or the Green Commute Initiative.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for 24/7 confidential support.
  • Work/Life Balance: 25 days annual leave with option to carry over up to 5 days, 1 company‑wide day off per quarter, flexible working (hybrid, office based or remote).
  • Family Life: 18 weeks of paid parental leave for full‑time regular employees, IVF leave, shared parental leave, and paid emergency parent/carer leave.
  • Learn + Grow: development discussions to support continuous learning, upskilling with company‑wide training workshops, materials and resources.
  • Financial: life insurance (3× salary), pension matching up to 6% of full base salary with Aviva.
  • All offices are dog‑friendly and there is an opportunity to work abroad for 4 weeks per year in UK tax treaty countries.
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
