This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer with experience in high voltage (HV) connections design to join a major DNO framework.
Schemes are from 33k V - 132k V and remote working is supported (with a preference for candidates to be based in Yorkshire).
Role
- Design and cost 33k V - 132k V network projects, such as new connections, asset replacement and diversions.
- Analyse network issues and performance problems, developing technically robust, cost-effective solutions to improve network performance and reliability.
- Assess generation connections and raise jobs for Witness Testing in accordance with relevant technical and operational requirements.
- Prepare concise business cases in the required format and present them for authorisation within agreed timescales, supporting the timely delivery of the Production Plan.
- Determine the appropriate Point of Connection (POC) for new load and generation enquiries on HV networks up to 132k V.
- Undertake site visits, stakeholder meetings and other site-based activities as required to support project development and delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience in HV connections or general HV network design between 33k V and 132k V with a DNO, IDNO or ICP
- Knowledge and application of Electricity Network Regulations and National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) requirements.
- Understanding of DNO and IDNO design standards, technical requirements, and scheme approval processes.
- Application of relevant ENA Engineering Recommendations and industry standards in network design.
- Understanding of Grid Code requirements relating to protection settings and network protection.
- Awareness and application of Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) requirements within the electricity industry.
- Understanding and application of CDM Regulations.
- Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
- Driving licence.
