Working for the design and build team of a principal contractor in the rail sector, the main purpose of the role is to produce civil and structural designs for a range of schemes, including lineside civils, signalling, telecoms, power and structural buildings. End clients are Network Rail and London Underground.
Responsibilities:
- Create feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs in accordance with client requirements and industry standards.
- Ensure designs are buildable and cost-effective.
- Oversee CAD technicians producing engineering drawings.
- Carry out civil engineering design and assessment for a range of railway infrastructure assets, including equipment bases, bridges, platforms, lineside structures and buildings.
- Conduct project planning, programming, cost control.
- Report on project progress and expenditure.
- Attend project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all designs comply with health and safety legislation and CDM regulations.
- Supervise and mentor junior design engineer colleagues, assisting with their ongoing training and development.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in civil / structural design, ideally within a rail or infrastructure environment.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Experience using Tekla Tedds.
- Understanding and experience of Eurocodes.
- Knowledge of Network Rail and London Underground design standards and processes.
- Driving licence.
