Power engineering consultancy working on a range of projects in the transmission and distribution (T&D) / high voltage (HV) industry, requires a Control and Protection Engineer on a permanent basis. With an office in East England, they are open to someone experienced in HV protection design working on a hybrid or remote basis.
The projects are for the National Grid and various Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
Responsibilities:
- Design of HV protection and control (P&C) for substation projects between 132kV and 400kV
- Production of technical specifications, main connection drawings and wiring diagrams
- Carry out feasibility studies, design reviews and technical reports
- Production of schematics in AutoCAD
- Calculation of protection settings
Requirements:
- Substation design experience at 33kV, 66 kV, 132 kV or 400kV, specifically in protection and control design
- Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Understanding of the electrical aspects of power supplies and substations
- Power systems studies experience, using relevant software (DigSilent, ETAP, PSSE, IPSA etc)
- Awareness of DNO and Grid Codes for protection settings
